Characters

The characters are:
The Minotar: The Minotar is a raging beast that looks like a bull tried to kill Percy when he was on Half Blood Hill. It made his mother explode into gold dust.It is one of the monsters that you can slay but it's not going to be gone forever.
Percy Jackson: Percy is the main character. Percy is twelve years old, Also he is a nomal kid that he thinks he is a normal kid but he really is a half-blood who in the past 6 years has been to 6 different schools. That's really obvious, because at one of the schools, on a field trip, he shot a Revolutionary War cannon at the school bus. Then, one day his best friend Grover takes him to a summer camp from a storm in Long Island Sound, that's where Percy finds out that he is a Half-Blood. (His mom was mortal (who loves blue food) and his dad is Poseidon the water god.) Percy also has evil monsters attacking him because he is a Half-Blood.
Grover Underwood: Grover is Percy's best friend, and one of the people he goes on his quest with. He is also a Satyr (half-human, half-goat). He finds Percy and thinks he could be a half-blood. He contacts Chiron who comes to Yancy Academy to teach Percy. He can smell monsters when they get near one, but when they're underground it throws off his sense of smell.
Annabeth Chase: Annabeth is also one of Percy's best friends, she also goes on the quest with him. She has been at Half-blood Hill for more than 5 years! She gives Percy the nickname Seaweed Brain. Her mother is Athena (the smart goddess). She has this hat that makes her invisible which was a present from her mother. At the end of the story she goes to live with her father and step mother.
Chiron: He is the activities director at Camp Half-Blood when he is a teacher he is supposly paralized form the waist down but when he is at half bolld hill he is mostly horse . He traines Percy so he can go on his quest to the Underworld. In the beginning of the book Percy knows him as Mr. Brunner, the latin teacher at Yancy Academy which Chiron goes to so he can find out if Grover found another half-blood. Chiron is also the person that igves Percy Jackson the ballpoint pen that Poseidon gave to him to give to Percy. The pen turnes into a sword which is the only sword that is balanced in Percy's hand.

Setting

The story takes place in New York most of the time, in the summer camp (At half blood hill) that Percy was in before he went on his quest. He was also in Los Angeles for a chunk of the story, when he went to "visit" Hades in the underworld. He was also moved around to Denver to get to L.A.

Problem

The problem started when Poseidon claimed Percy as his son, and Zeus started blaming him for stealing his most prized possession - his Master Bolt. That's because Olympian gods often used mortals to steal something from the other gods becasue gods cannot cross another's territory unless invited. Also, Ares is a god that has a daughter that goes to camp Half-Blood where Percy is staying because of his abnormalties. Percy and Ares' daughter are enemies because all of Ares children think they are better than everyone, so Ares often tries to make Percy, Annabeth, and Grover's journey even harder by playing tricks on them and being mean to them. To add onto all of that Hade, the Underworld God's Helm of Darkness goes missing just like Zeus's Master Bolt, and he also blames Percy for taking it.

Point of View

The story is told from Percy's point of view. I know this because he used the term "I" when he was talking about himself, and he used other people's names when he talked about them. He also expressd emotions and talked about how he felt about some events.

Plot

First, we meet Percy, a troubled kid from New York who gets in trouble on his field trips. He slowly begins to figure out he's a half blood because of the strange things that are happening around him. His best friend Grover gets bullied on the bus by Nancy Bobofit.

Climax

The story started to get exciting when Percy visited the underworld and Ares had made the Master Bolt appear in Percy's backpack whenever he got close to the underworld. Ares was the war god, and Percy was a young demigod, so it was not surprising when Ares got mad when Percy defeated him in a fight.

Resolution

The problem was resolved when Percy got to the 600th floor of the Empire State Building and ended his adventure by giving Zeus back his Master Bolt. Also, he sent the three furies back to the underworld with Hades's Helm of Darkness that Ares had Luke, another Demigod at Camp Half-Blood steal.

Author's Message

The lesson of this story is to be strong even when it seems like the world is coming crashing down on you. Just like Percy, when things don't go very well you should just keep going and know that things will work out fairly in the end.
